I recently had a hernia operation. Is it safe to start masturbating?

I am a 20-year-old man. I recently had a hernia operation. The stitches were removed a few days ago. Is it safe to start masturbating? Also the size of my penis seems to have increased. Though I am happy about it, I am curious to know whether it is due to the operation.
