My son is 12. He wakes up with wet underpants. Has he reached puberty?

My son is 12. In the morning, he wakes up with wet underpants. However, his pants are dry. Has he reached puberty? How do I approach him about this? I often find him playing with his genitals at night.

    Of course, educate him on growing from a child to a man. Explain him what nightfall and masturbation are.
